What ab machines are good for a home routine. I have seen some on tv but wondered how they work compared to those at the gym?
TARA STAPLETON: HAve also seen some on tv and am now trying to find and read online the best Ab Machine Review to see what will work. I have, so far, decided against the ones that look too awkward and uncomfortable, and also the ones that might fall apart in two weeks. When you use the gym at least you know (or expect) that someone esle is taking care of the machines, adn that they probably are prety high quality. But my scheduule doesn’t allow me to go every day so I am thinkng too, of an abs belt to use at home and reclaim my body after pregnancy.
Kayla Anderson: I’ve been using a Chuck Norris slant board, with those pulleys that make you use your own weight as resistance? And I’m telling you ab machines as seen on t.v. don’t always turn out to be quite how they work at home? First I dropped the whole top of the weight thing on my foot, oops! when I was trying to change the slant, and even after one day of doing some over the head pulls, my wanna be stomach muscles have already said enough. So I’m thinking there has to be an easier way, I don’t want to go to the gym, I’m looking at an ab energizer on line that looks simple and safe, plus seems to give very good results. I think that’s going to be the next stab I take at toned abs; women are different than men, I don’t see why I should do these hard exercises they seem to like, when I have a choice of a program.
Jackson: IN my opinion, you gotta be careful when getting any of those kinds of products, like the ab machines as seen on tv because som e are good,a nd others just crap. i see those things & think, theres lots of advertising dollars but not always a lot of substance you know? I never bought it but I treed the Ab scissors at my buddy’s and it was tough, and I prefer to do the machines at the gym. But thats me, I don’t feel so motivvated at home. I go to the gym to work you know? THe only one of those things Ithink might b e easier to fit into a routine,is an a b belt of some sort, those look most promising to me more so than many of the ab machines gym.
Daphne: gym ab machines are good, I use them when I infrequently use my membership but I know part of it is the peer pressure I work harder in front of others but I need to save money and stay close to home with a small child now so I need a good home option I wonder if those ab belts really work…would love to here from someone with experience…
MRussoNJ56: Spent 3 weeks looking at how ab machines compared at my gym versus some home equipement I’ve purchased. Gym machines are best, but if you can’t fit it into your shedule, the abdominal toning belt is a great add on to any home routine you do. Ab Circle sucks, but I do like some of the videos I ordered from Denise Austin. Basically, wearing the toning belt will intensify whatever it is you do at home.
Michelle: What kind of ab machines on tv did you see? I got myself a fitness ball, that what i use at home and once u get the hang of it it’s really awesome for core muscles.
Paul: When looking at home equipment vs gym machines, it is difficiult to find ab machines that work as well as they say they will. Of course, part of thatis self discipline no doubt. I mean, doing a machine at the gym is gonna get results faster than jsut doing crunches, but I will say I was also more likely to use my ab roller at the gym than at home. I’ve gota flex belt now, its pretty easy to ft into my schedule, and i can wear it at homeor when i;m onthe treadmillat the gym.
Karen Wilson: I’ve been doing the Jillian Michaels DVD’s and ab machines compared to what she puts me through don’t hold a candle to ab machines at the gym, but sometimes I just can’t face another day of working so hard, looking at an ab belt I saw on t.v. for my kind of down days, when I just can’t muster enough strength to even lift my legs, this looks like a good alternative to my usual program, and who knows? Maybe it will work fast and I can take a little rest!
ArcadiaDave: Ab machines gym vs. ab machines home? Think some of the stuff at the gym is good if you are also working on other body parts, but for focusing on abs only some of the at home stuff is actually better, IMO. Check out reviews on some of the ab belts that that are online now. The main three I know about are the one i saw on tv, Contour and The Flex Belt.
Rosamund: I love to stay up late and snack and watch Tv. last night I got to thinking about ab machine as seen on tv:can they work at all, would they work for me who is lazy, and as I said loved to munch on crackers and cookies.I am trying to get healthier one step at a time. If there is one that works it would be fun. its a treat to have fast results then you want to eat better and everything. we;ll see!
Lillian: I think the best ab machines for home aren’t even machines at all. I do sit-ups on a Swiss ball and wear an electronic toning belt which is especially great for women to help control the ponch.
Kimberly_8679305: Thanks, Paul, that’s the very question I was going to ask, whether you could combine an ab belt with ab machines that work at the gym, for me that’s a perfect combo, getting my workouts two different places, never stop! And I also LOVE the idea of treadmill running with the abdominal toner on, talk about thorough!
Ted: I have both a membership at the gym and an ab belt (abdominal toning belt) I don’t even do abs at the gym anymore, I just do cardio and lifting, my ab belt works as good if not better than the ab machines gym, minus the discomfort.
HarveySixPack: Ab machines that work are probably the ones at the gym, can’t have thsoe at home, you wouldn’t have room for anything else, butsometimes I sure don’t feel like going that’s when I use the ab toning belt I read about, Flex Belt, is the bet ne I could find, I can watch t.v. while I’ve got it on, don’t have to schedule some special time for it, results look easy, got my fingers crossed it’s gonna save me the gym membership for next year.
GraceLA: Don’t think you can really compare the two. Gym machines are usually large and stationary and focus more on your upper abdominals. Lower ab workouts are the toughest, but i just started following a good plan that combines Pilates and wearing one of these toning belts. Good results so far.
Carrie: have been reading ab machines reviews all morning and I just want a sandwich and a nap. Ug, I know I should diet but I;ll start tomorrow. And an ab belt that did something would be miraculous!
mr.dave: everytime i see the ab machines on tv i get sorta hooked into the infomercials and want to order whatever it is but am trying to hold back, as most of those things, don;t last. either that or i use ‘em for a week and they end up colecting dust. i do better at my club, i go there to work & have no excuses not to. but it sounds like some kind of ab toning belt might be a better way to go from these posts. who ia m i to say.
Sam: I prefer the gym’s ab machines compared to the one i have at home right. I got myself Abdominal rocker and it just hard on my back and neck, the one use at the gym is easier to use but it’s also a $2000 machine can’t really compare to my ab trainer.
DeliaDances: I’ve been doing Zoomba, not sure how you speell that, not my strong suite, anyway I like that better than the ab machines reviews I’ve been seeing, except for maybe the abdominal toning belt I’ve been looking at, I think I could wear that while I’m dancing, would that get me some results really fast? I’m thinking so, we women have to keep those little waists and flat tummys you know, no matter how we do it!
DARCY: well i will admit i am quite skeptical of the ab machines for home plus i am a klutz and would probly hurt myself. i also hate the gym machines, all these nasty men grunting and sweating on them and hten staring at me, yuck. sign me up for an ab energizer or a b belt o r whatever.
Fitnessrules: Never believed much in abs belts until recently. Thought ab machines that work were mostly at the gym. Electronic muscle stimulation does work for some PT, but targeting your abs in farily new. I agree that if you use it along with some other at home routine you could see some good results.
Lisa: Been seeing ab machines on tv and ab machines that work are few and far between. But I know I will find one. I am getting in shape and have cut our sugar and carbs. Next is fitness. Hope I get a trim waste!
Ken: For a home routine? I think crunches and sit-ups on the floor is the best option in my opinion, why spending you cash on an ab machines for home when you can use your body? It’s not easy you are guaranteed to get results.
lois in louisville: you obviously are looking for something to do at home then and not soley rely on those ab machines gym tend to have. i have used some yoga & pilates for abs dvds and those are not a bad home routine. might be cheaprer than a machine i think its good to break it up & do variety anyway. sorry but, home machines seempriceyy and those ab belt things look liek a cheater’s way to me.
JambaliaJones: Have to agree, the ab roller or even the ab roller plus doesn’t seem to do anything much except give a good feeling – the gym ab routine I do when I can make myself go is MUCH better, but I hate to see all the ground I lose when I don’t go as often as I should, the ab machines as seen on t.v look promising at this point, esp the ab belt ones, I’ve gotta get myself out of my own way and get some results!
JKRogers: There are some good at home products but there are also a lot of crap ab machines as seen on tv. A lot of those informercial sare always a little deceiving because all the models are already very fit and for a lot of us to expect the same types of results is unrealistic. The toning belt is as good of an at home piece of equipment as you can get, but I do think you have to stay active no matter where you are.
Bette: Zoomba is fun but I still have a belly I wonder if it is just my reality being over 40 but I am going to try I am reading an ab machines reviews and going for the best one.
mike: what i think is you gonna get faster results using ab machines compared to just doing crunches or situps, whether your at home or the weight room. whats key is finding one that works upper & lower abs, obliques, everything. i never thought a bout a a b belt before but i have read reviews and seen comments, seem to work. am thinking the flex belt looks best at this point.
Robin: Having a good home routine is key to my staying healthy over the winter months where I live gets snowy awful freezing for months and I hate being cold so much so I quit the gym essentially and then I eat more cookies and I chub out I dont wnat that to happen so I am looking for at home exercisers and machines. I am checking out ab machines as seen on tv and reading online reviews just to get the very best, a product I will use that works.
Dklein: Go to the gym for a top ab workout! Don’t be scared! Get out there. None of the ab machines as seen on TV will keep you as motivtated to get real results as much as the company of others who are trying to achieve fitness. For a good ab workout for men or women
some trainers actually have ab belts at work and will let you try them out there!
Katherine607YW: Ab machines reveiws I’ve been looking at run anywhere from an at home elliptical to a Flex Belt, and I’ll tell you what, for ease of use, never mind assembly! the ab toning belt has it all over the do it yourself home rigs, I’m only really concenred about my fat stomach, my legs and arms are ok, so I’m thinking the abdominal toner is gonna work fine for me, I plan on ordering one this afternoon, and then am gonna try to stop feeling quilty about not going to the gym anymore.
Mercedes'99: Ab machines for home are hard to find, a good one, I mean, there’s a whole lot of junk, falls apart before you can even get it out of the box like that trampoline thing I ordered, piled it right back in and sent it back, so I’ve been sticking to ab machines at the gym but I’m really sefl conscous about how I look I feel like everybody’s staring at me, how did I get thin enough so the ab belts I’m looking at will do some good? Do I have to do Atkins or South Beach first? Otherwise, how can the EMS get into my muscles? I’m THAT chunky in the middle…
Cindy: BTW the correct spelling is Zumba and it’s not really for abs, it;s mostly cardio with very and lower body muscles. ab machines for home are too expensive and take too much room when you only have a one bedroom. For abs I recommend looking online for exercises to do at home on a mat. Stay away from ab machines on tv.
Char: Oh wow, good point Katherine, I never even thought about assembly. And like someone else said those ab machines as seen on tv ALWAYS have the perfectly fit models, NO real person looks like that! I run pretty regularly but my stomach is always kidna blah. I;m thinking an ab toning belt s gonna do what situps/crunches can’t & should make a difference. Last yeer I was pregnant this year, am getting in tip top shape!
