Am pretty new to yoga and working out but am look for something that exercises core directly. Have heard of maybe a swiss ball or one of those ab toning belts what works?
Tania: me too! My sister roped me into it; she convinced me I need to do something that exercises core muscles since we both had babies in the last year and want to emerge from our pregnant bodies. Hoping a ab belt helps me to become better at yoga and pilates and ultimately look good again naked. Reading more reviews…
Christina L.: IF you use a Swiss ball, it exercises core muscles, sure but its kinda tough to use! Maybe I am just not so coordinated, but I thought going to yoga claasses was easier actually. I;m not much of a prop person I guess you could say! But ab toning belts, thats a different story- no balance require d! I’m getting results in my core with it & its pretty easy to use.
Margaret: I do believe a swiss ball excercises core strength very well but I had to stop using mine last year because my back went out. I have also tried an ab toning belt that I saw online called The Flex Belt and it is great to use because i can stand erect not have to worry about doing an actual crunch.
Thea: Think Pilates exercises core muscles just about better than anything but it takes a long time to see results, like months? So if you’re new or old to this exercise/workout game, a short cut is always good, that’s why I’m reading the reviews for ab toning belts and thinking, hmmmmmm. double whammy? Women who want results fast, like I do, maybe this is the perfect program to follow? Pilates/yoga, 3 times a week, abdominal toner, every day, don’t see how any of us could go wrong with this kind of schedule.
laura: well there are a lot of techniques and products that exercises core muscles, i think its a matter of what works for you and what comes easy and natural. i find that the Swiss ball makes me loose my balance & i am not too keen on how it forces me to use my back, which is a problem area for me. I much prefer the ab toning belts, like you said. you want to look for a good ab belt that uses EMS technology. I found mine thru studying all the online reviews i could find.
And pls, nobody come on here and say you have to do hard work to succeed…try tearing up your back with crunches for 5 yrs and then you might not fell that way,
Chris: I think Bosu trainer excercises core stability better than a swiss ball. It comes with a few good DVDs and I have improved my program by wearing a toning belt while doing my Bosu workouts. The extra charge is great and makes me feel like I’m doing a double workout.
Rita: Sure a swiss ball exercises core strength, but do you know how many times I’ve fallen off that thing? I feel like a pregnant frog! OOOOPS, rolling over again! Plain old yoga does it for me in a better way, but it’s so kind of measured and thoughtful I get bored, I want to be busy when I exercise, that’s why I’m reading reviews for some ab toning belts, I can do all the things I like to do when I’m wearing it and still be exercising, in fact I was thinking I could run with one on? Talk about cardio and strength all at once!!!!
Jeanine: Me, I feel like a fool with those stability balls. SUre, it can be a great tool, I mean there’s no denying that if you use it right – and regularly – it exercises core strength and you wil see results but…I’m partial to the abdominal toning belt. It just, fits into my schedule better, and yeah I mean, I still go to classes (spin, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing, bring it on!) But this way, I can nenjoy hte class, spend an hour or hour and a half or whatever, and do my ab workout with the abs belt at my leisure.like during the office…
Anna: exercises core muscles is a pain but it really pays off when you do it right. A fitness ball is a good idea. I am not sure about ab toning belts but if they target those muscle it may be good 4 you as a good abs workout routine.
Margo: have never used a swiss ball or done yoga soo I dont have much to add to the convo just wanted to say that I too am reading reviews and searching my best to find a product that crunches abs and makes core strength.
Tess: I take Yoga too, but it only excercises core muscles so much. The best results I’ve seen have come from wearing an ab belt – first tried one at my gym – i honestly didn’t think it was going to do much, but it has totally defined my abs and it is very easy to use.
Linnea: does walking engage your core muscles? I am looking for good exercises I can do at lunchtime. Dont have much time, dont want to get too sweaty but would love to work my abs when I get the chance instead of stuffing my face. I could use this gym or watch a yoga video but thats not my thing looking for simplicity/effectiveness ratio.
amanda: how do you KNOW if your exercise routine exercises core strength or not? i mean, other than the results? like for instance, with these ab toning belts you all are talking about, how do you know if its doing anything, since you are not exerting yourself or doing any work? how can u even tell? is my question.
Reanna: What exercises core stability better than yoga, that’s what I’d like to know, the question is will an ab belt kind of thing do it as good, and my ansswer is no, not by itself, you still have to get that deep training going, I’m not so convinced that an ab toning belt would work as good, but reviews about them say different, right this minute I just don’t know if I’m convinced or not.
AppleJames: I think anything that exercises core strengthening, whether it’s just plain or crunches or yoga, is great, it’s the end result we’re ater, right, to get a flat stomach and feel really good, walk tall…so does that happen if you just use an ab belt all by itself? I mean, half the reason I exercise is for the endorphins, do you get that same rush with a toning belt? Results are one thing, but feeling pumped is another. I guess I’m asking a whole lot of questions right back!!!
melodymoody: wel i have to say i always liked the IDEA of those balance balls better than the reality of them. i happen to feel more stable with my feet on a mat and my butt barely lifted off the ground when i;m doing exercises core strengthening, like pilates or yoga. for women, i think its super important to do these exercises! anyway, after being pregnant i decided to step it up a notch and get an ab belt too, i think it work best from anything for the core muscles.
Mona: I like the fitness ball to do exercises core stability, works for men and women, seniors or younger and once you get it it’s pretty easy to use.
Henry: Yoga excercises core muscles but then you don’t see a lot of men doing it do you? Because dudes doing Yoga is embarrassing. After reading up on electronic muscle stimulation, I got The Flex Belt and can use it at home, away from the prying eyes of the world, while watching my trusty tv.
Beatriz: I having roube figureing out what exercises core strength best, there are so may ideas/equpment available, so I’m thinking the yoga idea you have is wonderufl, so uncomplicated, so REAL, you know? But like uyou I’m thinking about an abdominal belt too, idea of easy and fast, no effort, is so tempting! Do you suppose it really can do wht it says, reviews are pretty convincing.
joanie_120: swiss ball exercises core strength, but it doesnt always give you the VISIBLE results that u get with an abs contour belt. And YES – if you are not very coordinated it is kind of hard to stay balanced on that ball. i think its nice for people who like that kind of program, but i don’t think it shows the same ki kind of definition you can get with an ab belt. just my 2 cents.
Astrid: Balance/Swiss balls are fun to me! and I have loved yoga for years but with a toddler around there is not a chance I can do all my lifts, crunches or asanas. I need something that exercises core muscles quick, a little technology could go a long way here for me. Fittinginto my pants but with a roll. I want a firm stomach and I want to feel strong too boot!
andrea cooper: the benefits of an exercise such as yoga are more than simply about building core muscles, in my opinion. Its the whole, mind body aweareness going on, that is SO beneficial. and nothing exercises core stability better either, i don;t think. sure you could try a ball but why go to that trouble. i dont see why you would need to add an ab shocker or a b belt or whatever, into that routine but that;s my opinion. i guess there must be soemthing to it, based on what i;ve read here.
Kitty: Yoga exercises core strengthening, that’s true, but I’m really tired of it, I’m glad that you’re full of enthusiasm for your new workout program, I’m kind of at the other end of the stick, want something easy, that’s why I’m reading ab belt reviews like some kind of crazy woman, need a rest from it all, the routines, the schedules, but still want a flat tummy, hoping this abdominal toner’s gonna do the trick.
gloria: well my goodness i am a senior woman, and when i read these messages about looking for a workout routine that exercises core strengthening and whatnot, i can assure you that i have no idea what that means. It is hard enough keeping up with the computer and the internet and my daily routine i am not about to go rolling around on some ball. and yet i cannot stand this spare tire i have noticed since having my hysterectomy three years ago. I don’t think I am too old to achieve decent results from a program for abdominals, but i think i should stick to something basic and easy. These ab shockers sound a little bit odd, but apparently they are used in physical therapy, so that sounds quite good to me.
Eva: I vote for an ab contour belt simply because it targets all of the core muscles. The belt exercises core muscles that I just can’t do on my own with just a balance ball.
MrsG: grand advice, gals and pals. INstead of boring yoga or a big ball I am going to try a belt that exercises core muscles directly. I figure I will get into a little better shape than my current blob shape and then I can go to the gym for class and crunches. I want 6 pack abs, even if I am older.
mariana: Am pretty sure the swiss ball exercises core strength pretty directly though it might take some time to build up. I;ve used one at the gym, never quite had the urrge to purchase one. Really not so easy to use, and so I never got any results. You could stil do yoga, if you like it, but I say also get a toning belt and try walkin or running with it, that way you burn fat while stimulating the muscles. that might work best for exercises core stability.
Billy: P90x really excercises core muscles, but couldn’t keep up with the program – it’s f#^&*g hard! – still do it when I can, but they expect you to totally change your eating program and lifestyle and everything just to get fit. I’m sure that the abdominal toning belts are easier to use, but I don’t know if you can get those kind of results with something like this.
Angelica: Exercises core muscles, that’s what the review for the ab contour belt I was reading said, so I dunno, that and crunches, or that and yoga, may be the answer to getting rid of this left over pregnant belly…will let you know…
liz: if pregnant…is there any easy routine that exercises core muscles during pregnancy? or should i just wait? I know i can’t use an ab belt now, and i might wanna hold out for one of those, they sound cool. Btw swiss ball exercises core strength sounds cool, have never tried.
